How It All Started

My passion for cooking was sparked as a little girl, perched on a kitchen stool, watching my grandmother knead dough for her famous cinnamon rolls. The scent of warm bread, the laughter echoing through the house, and the feeling of togetherness stuck with me. I realized early on that food could bring people together in the most meaningful way.

As I grew older, I found myself drawn back to the kitchen—experimenting, tasting, and sharing my creations with anyone willing to try them. Sunday brunches, weeknight dinners, and impromptu dessert nights with friends became cherished rituals. What I love most about recipes is the way they can turn everyday moments into memories and strangers into friends.

I started Life With April as a way to capture these experiences, celebrate family traditions, and share the little discoveries that make home cooking so rewarding. Whether it’s a five-ingredient breakfast or a show-stopping cake, every recipe here is a page from my life—and now, yours too.

I never publish a recipe I wouldn’t serve my own family or friends. Visual presentation is a big part of what I do—I believe food should look as good as it tastes! Outside of recipe creation, I’m an avid gardener, food science enthusiast, and self-confessed cookbook collector. I love experimenting with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and I’m always seeking out new culinary techniques or global flavors to bring home. Learning is at the heart of what I do, and I’m committed to staying inspired so I can inspire you too.

In my free time, you’ll find me volunteering at our local food pantry, exploring farmers’ markets, or hiking with my golden retriever, Daisy. All these experiences feed back into my recipes, keeping my ideas fresh, relevant, and full of heart.
